The Havana Biennial arts festival (May 11-June 11) 2012 has begun and exhibitions are open all over La Habana. While reading about the festivities in the Havana Times, I learned that the artist Manuel Mendive joined in with a performance featuring one hundred body-soul-performers singing, dancing and displaying themselves as they walked along the Prado esplanade in the heart of Old Havana.  Wow!

The piece is called “Cabezas” (Heads). The photographs are splendid.  Courtesy of the internet these beautiful images can be enjoyed by many. Special thanks are due to the article author, Maria Matienzo Puerto and photographer, Elio Delgado for turning us on! This is especially meaningful for those of us who not as fortunate to be standing on the Prado and visually witnessing the energy of this creative majesty. Check it out!   http://www.havanatimes.org/?p=69914

Last year this time I too was in La Habana, enjoying the fruits of Cuban culture on the Dia de las Madres.  However 2011 was a odd year, so the Biennial was not in La Habana.  Nevertheless, I give thanks for my access to the public domain and the online world.

For all the groups of friends that are traveling to the Havana Biennial arts festival 2012, have fun, find a guide, make friends, buy music, eat tropical fruits, drink mojitos and enjoy yourselves as you graciously experience Cuba Life, La Vida de Cuba!*
