Pastors for Peace Caravan 2015

Companeros y Companeras, Friends, Brothers and Sisters, we are calling on all you to join us in sponsoring the 2015 Pastors for Peace Cuba Caravan.

Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 6:30pm,

Atlanta Friends Meeting House

701 W. Howard St. Decatur GA, 30030.

Join the Atlanta Community for a Potluck Meal to welcome and celebrate another Cuba Caravan. Although diplomatic relations are being established between the Cuba and the U.S., the Blockade and Travel Ban Have Not Been Lifted yet.

However this year the 114th Congress has introduced the Freedom to Trade with Cuba Act of 2015 in the Senate and the Freedom to Travel to Cuba Act of 2015 in the House and Senate. We are very close to finally accomplishing what our Cuban Sisters and Brothers have been asking us to work towards all of these years! Making this summer’s caravan one of the most important ever!

Your support is needed. Invite your friends to welcome the Pastors for Peace Cuba Caravan. Become a local sponsor of the caravan by contributing $50. All contributions will gifted to the Caravan at the Atlanta Potluck Meal on July 7, 2015.

2) Encourage folks to bring a dish for the pot luck welcome dinner being held on Tuesday July 7, 2015, from 6:30pm – 9:00pm.

As we said previously, for many years, our comrades at IFCO/ Pastors for Peace have shouldered a heavy load in the struggle for peace and justice. This people of color- led, interfaith organization, is front and center in the Cuban Solidarity movement. They have defied the United States embargo against Cuba for over 25 years. These trips, now approaching 26 caravans, have delivered tons of supplies to Cuba, gathered along the way as they crossed the US. Through their efforts, hundreds have travelled to Cuba in people to people exchanges between the two countries. They have refused to apply for a license to visit our neighbors in the Caribbean and have asserted our right to travel and render help anywhere in the world we choose. Pastors for Peace has shown us the true meaning of faith, resistance and solidarity.
Today, IFCO needs our support more than ever as it is being attacked by the IRS. For more information,  see www.ifconews.org.

Nelson Mandela said “When Africa Called, Cuba Answered.” The truth is Cuba is the face of internationalist solidarity from soldiers in Angola and Congo fighting colonialism yesterday to doctors healing in Haiti and Pakistan after earthquakes today.

Now it is our turn, all of us who claim solidarity or friendship with Cuba or who simply oppose this act of war against a sovereign country, to join as one of the sponsoring organizations of the Atlanta stop by the Caravanistas.
