Cinnamon Traveler Insider's Guide
is a new travel reference guide series dedicated to
Heritage Tourism. This first volume explores the
African Diaspora experience on Martha's Vineyard
Island from both a historical and a contemporary
perspective.
Practical travel information and historical
perspectives alike are dispensed in chapters with fun
and catchy titles. "...The Golden Rules for Spending
Wisely and Having a Good Time" chapter offers the 411
on the journey to the island, where to stay,
hostelling and on island transportation options.
"The Benjamins" chapter provides a local business
directory that lists accommodations, retailers,
restaurants etc., with important telephone numbers and
websites, for your planning convenience.
For the explorer in you, there is a chapter that
highlights 4 self guided adventures. Highlights
include Lighthouses and Weathervanes, as well as a
Walking Tour of Oak Bluffs and a Day Voyage to
Nantucket. Yet another chapter completely dedicated
to The Ocean, shares the low on beaching tips and
sunset hideaways.
Finally, historical essays chronicle the African
Diaspora presence on Martha's Vineyard Island,
beginning in the 1700s. Just as the contemporary
experience is covered in detail, thorough discussions
shed light on the interwoven multi national origins of
the island's 'Community of Color'.
Sangeet Grace Lynis wrote the book based on her
experience as a historical advocate, travel journalist
and Managing Director of Cinnamon Traveler Heritage
Trust. In this book her love for Martha's Vineyard
Island Shines through and through
